Need for Change
Manure! I'm sure you're aware of the great London horse manure crisis of 1894. If you are not, then let me explain. In the 1890s the Industrial Revolution had people flocking to the city and more people equals more horses and more horses equals more manure. It was predicted that by the middle of the next century there would be nine feet of manure covering the streets. This would not only bring inconvenience but also bring death in the form of diseases. But what no one saw coming was a new technology that would completely obliterate those concerns. The car, overnight the manure problem vanished and again we stand today with a similar situation in our hands. Car, the saviour of that era is now the villain in all our stories. Transportation as we currently know it is running on fossil fuel that is just not sustainable, it's the present day manure. We already have the new “car” to get rid of today’s “manure”. It’s the electric vehicle. But it has been proven to be far harder for EV’s to do what the car did. This is because change is hard. I am sure it was hard then as well, but today, its far more complex and intertwined, this compounded with the ever-growing problems of population and consumerism is making it worse. But with sheer will and the power to accept and adopt change we can cross over that wide chasm. Start your journey over the chasm now to reach the goal on time, before we miss the last bus to sustainability, before we are knee deep in “manure”, before we cant undo it.
