Catching up with Gen Z for Millenials

Generation Z are humans born from 1995 till 2012 or 2015. This is the generation that was born into the technological and hence are techy savy age i.e. smart phones such as Samsung and Apple. and make up 32% of the population. Being technology savy however has lead to the previous generation known as Millennials becoming disconnected with their children unless they have adapted to generation Z. Hence, I will be talking about someways to catch up with Generation Z in this blog.

Known the latest trends i.e. social media. In generation Z there have been many social media channels that be have introduced since 1995 and some of the most popular ones are Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram and Yotube. Many millennials usually judge generation Z for spending too much time on there phones instead of learning how to use the social media channels. According to articles Gen Z use the following the most youtube, Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook. Learning how to use social media channels could help you engage better with your kids.

Ask your kids to sit with you and teach you how to use those smart phones. Yes it will be a bit hard at the start and you will want to give up or throw a fit that whatever you are trying is not working. Doing this will annoy your kids more and they will not teach you, In cases like that instead keep yourself calm and say I can do this and it’s better for me to learn even if it takes a bit/lot of energy. You will be surprised with the things you can do with a smartphone i.e. shop online through apps without moving anywhere.

Learn about one of the most important things to Generation Z right now which is Sustainability. This has even led to many companies, schools, organization changing their focus to sustainability by doing things such as recycling waste, re using plastic and using/inventing green energy. Therefore, as a millennial known more about the shift towards sustainability and maybe implement it in your house and personally. Doing this could possibility get your kids interested to and they might give you suggestions i.e. reducing the usage of electricity.

Overall there are many ways to catch up with Gen Z, all you need to do is spend time and energy reading and searching about the latest trends which will lead you to know what Generation Z are up to and accordingly millennials can tailor the way which will make the engagement with Generation Z better.
